Executive Summary

More Than a Visual Redesign

The opportunity is to build a clearer, faster and more scalable digital experience around how K1 Speed customers actually use the website.

K1 Speed serves individual racers looking for locations, hours, pricing, eligibility information and booking options, as well as group and corporate customers planning larger events.

Josh Garner Design proposes a comprehensive redesign of the twelve page templates and two global components defined by K1 Speed. The engagement includes research, UX strategy, information hierarchy, navigation, wireframes, visual design, responsive layouts, accessibility guidance, prototyping and implementation documentation.

Design Only

This engagement concludes with a complete, documented, platform-independent design system. K1 Speed or its selected development partner will perform implementation.

02
Objectives

Design Around Customer Intent

01

Mobile First

Begin at phone width and expand intentionally through tablet, desktop and wide layouts.

02

Faster Location Discovery

Make finding, selecting, changing and returning to a K1 Speed location a primary part of the experience.

03

Improved Findability

Surface high-demand information including hours, eligibility, waivers, pricing and gift cards.

04

Clear Conversion

Establish one dominant action and a clear conversion hierarchy for each page template.

05

Scalable System

Replace page-by-page inconsistency with reusable components, patterns, tokens and content rules.

06

Accessible by Design

Target WCAG 2.2 Level AA within the design system rather than relying on accessibility fixes after implementation.

03
Core UX Challenge

Header & Navigation

The navigation will be treated as an information architecture problem—not simply a visual restyle.

The goal is to reduce cognitive load while making high-intent actions easier to reach from every page.

Navigation System

  • Primary navigation hierarchy
  • Location selection and switching
  • Current location visibility
  • Search entry point
  • Gift cards
  • Waivers
  • Eligibility information
  • Hours
  • Persistent booking actions
  • Mobile and nested navigation
  • Sticky navigation behavior
  • Keyboard and focus behavior
  • Large-phone reachability
04
Commercial Core

Location Experience

A flexible location system capable of supporting 100+ venues without assuming that every location has identical content, amenities or offerings.

Location Home

Location overview, hero, hours, open/closed status, address, phone, reviews, directions and primary customer actions.

Hours & Info

Hours, holiday variations, directions, parking, phone, eligibility rules, waivers and online check-in.

Pricing

Mobile-first pricing, packages, memberships and add-ons without horizontally scrolling pricing tables.

Groups & Parties

Experience-led presentation for birthdays, adult groups, corporate events, teams and related group inquiries.

Tracks & Times

Track maps, kart specifications, speed information, race formats and lap records.

Gallery

Mobile-first photography and video presentation with clearly defined media proportions and interaction behavior.

Food & Drink

Flexible presentation for lounge, menu, food, beverage and hospitality offerings.

Missing Content States

Templates will adapt intelligently when locations do not have specific amenities, media, sections or information.

05
Location Discovery

Map + Search + Near Me

Find

Search by location, city or region with clear handling for geolocation and manual location selection.

Explore

Define a responsive relationship between the map and location list at every breakpoint.

Filter

Support country, state and location-status filtering while remaining scalable as the location network grows.

Now Open

Clearly identified active locations.

Coming Soon

Future locations distinguished from active venues.

Temporarily Closed

Clear status without creating customer confusion.

Planning Stages

Appropriate presentation for early-stage locations.
